A Little About Me
I grew up in southern Minnesota, the daughter of a beef farmer. My first husband, Gary and I had three daughters. We also raised beef. In addition to farming, I worked off the farm as a business analyst. I lost Gary in his mid 40's to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or more commonly referred to as Lou Gehrigs disease. We ended up selling out, but after his death, I still had the pull of farming in my blood.
Little did I know that a dairy farmer would be in my future. This is not some ordinary dairy farm though. We milk with robots! In addition to the dairy we also host tours on our farms;e receive guests from all over the world. We have a little country store that runs on the honor system, and we host events in our barn and home.
How I came up with the name for my blog, "High Atop Cinnamon Ridge." Cinnamon Ridge is the name of our farm. Cinnamon is the color of the Jersey cow and ridge because the farm sits on a ridge. We have a spectacular view from our front porch.
This blog will be about adjusting to life in Iowa, meeting new people and just the daily happenings at the farm.
